So far I have been able to locate 7 maps
that show the Youghtanund. Most of them locate the Youghtanund upsteam
of “The Island” and often on the Southside of the river, both in congruence with John Smiths description in “Generill
Historie of Virginia.” Most of the maps also name the river the “Youghtanund Flu” or River.
This indicates they were the dominant
force on that section of the river. The Youghtanund generally only show in
maps before 1651. It is important to note
that no maps that show Youghtanund also show the name Manskin except the Zuniga map, which show the
Manaskint and the Yonnoghann villages as
being side by side.
